The rooster is a fixture in many home decor stores and restaurants, but a new product from UK-based Rooster Tableware has caught the attention of some customers who say it’s not as functional as it could be.
“It looks like it was made by a monkey,” said one customer, who asked not to be named.
It’s a clever marketing ploy by Rooster, which says the tableware is “inspired by nature and birds”.
The rooster can be ordered as a tableware or as a decorative item.
A small, flat-shaped rooster sits on top of a ceramic bowl with a red, white and blue flower on top.
The product also comes with a little bird in the box, and some other fun accessories.
Customers who order it are then presented with a voucher to use towards a custom-made rooster and a voucher for a bird.
What does it look like?
The roosters look quite different to any other tableware and, for some, that’s a bit of a shame.
“I’ve been getting requests from people who’ve never bought a table, because it looks like a monkey or something,” said the customer.
People also complain about the fact that it’s a little pricey.
While Rooster doesn’t claim it is the cheapest tableware on the market, the company does claim it’s cheaper than the competition.
Rooster said it wanted to create something simple and affordable for people who might not want to spend too much on a table or just want something a little more personal.
“We were looking for a simple and practical solution to help people enjoy their home more and create a lasting legacy,” it said.
“This is why we created the Rooster Rabbit Tableware.”
Roosters will also feature on Rooster’s website, where they are advertised as a “fun and playful companion”.
However, it doesn’t look as if the rooster will be available to the public for a long time, so you might want to look elsewhere.
